Perhaps you've covered this in an earlier post that I've not read yet. But I think you missed one critical point for anyone considering starting their own NGO. Sorry to sound cynical, but there are already far too many tiny little NGOs that don’t really do anything except compete for increasingly scarce resources, raise beneficiary expectations (often without delivering), and clog coordination meetings.

If African is possible, all the better, but use whomever you might have available. That gives serious some legits to the project.
