First off, I'm glad you decided to post this. I think it's a really interesting list. I also want to push back on the evaluation. I've found it to be very useful in most things I do. What don't you like about evaluation in the context of international development?

I ended up writing this list because of a series of exchanges I had on Twitter. Twitter really refined my feelings on a lot of things.

Couple of questions on this. Is this list in any order??

And second, I need an explanation for some of these:

- Development Doctors

- what types of evaluation do you like and what don't you like?? why?

- donation of old stuff versus money?? (this I don't get because the used clothes business is big in most parts of the world I've been to...thank god for it...its saved my life on a number of occasions!!)

- what's your deal with exchange programs?? I think exchange programs, like a general education, isn't designed to make everyone brilliant. Only a small number take the same thing and make something big of their education. Similarly, exchange programs are meant to give the greater mass a small bit of an experience, and hopefully hook one or two big time. Watch those one or two, and you will realize all that pain was worth it. This I say from personal experience.

Part B-17, 21, 27...MAJOR pet peeves of mine as well. Bravo!

As a caveat on Part A-21, I'd add - giving women the right to choose. I know too many women who have chosen abortion as a means of birth control, because birth control pills, condoms or others were strictly forbidden. Some of these women have come away very sick. Few of them wanted their children. Most of these women were forced to have sex against their will.
