KYRGYZSTAN: On Wednesday, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Nikolai Tanayev denied news reports that two people have died of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Kyrgyzstan. Media sources credited a government source for the information and accused Kyrgyz authorities of attempting to cover up the deaths. Tanayev has expressed concern that the negative publicity could affect tourism and the economy.
