Jargon: Optic

Meaning: What it looks like. (I kid you not)

There’s something supremely ironic about the term ‘Optic’ being so obscure!

I recently blogged on the thought ‘Let’s CHANGE management speak’, and it seems there are a lot of people out there who are as frustrated as you with these crass or over-used terms!

Do you think the use of “optic” is related to the (over)use of “metric,” as in “something used to measure”?

Honestly, I think people just feel stupid saying “I’m worried about what it looks like.” Saying “I am worried about the optic” is less embarassing.
