Well, no. Actually I’m going to New York to cover the MDG summit, which is way better for a development geek like me. If you’re going to be there too, comment. Maybe we can cross paths. If there’s an MDG event you’d particularly like me to write about, comment and I will try to hit it and report back. If you have helpful advice for how to get the most out of this week, comment and offer it.
This is an exciting opportunity for me, and I want to share it as much as I can. Let me know how, and I’ll do my best.
Disclosure: I attended UN Week as an Oxfam VOICE, which funded my trip as part of an effort to increase awareness of the MDGs.
I will be there – I’m from WaterAid! Sanitation is now the MOST off track of the MDG targets in Africa and it barely gets a mention by anyone, so we could really do with you blogging about it! 2.6 billion people don’t have access to a clean toilet, resulting in 4,000 children dying a day from diarrhoea in Africa. Can you blog about the sanitation and water side event, co-hosted by Senegal, Liberia, the US, Korea and Tajikistan on Wednesday 21st from 7.30-9am?
Hey, I’m here with the Global Call to Action Against Poverty. On the 22nd, we’re having an event on The World We Want. While it’s not an MDG, it would be great to hear your thoughts on civil society solutions to achieving the MDGs.
I think the best way to share it would be to take tons of notes and write some good retrospectives about it. Liveblogging and tweeting, in general, doesn’t offer much in terms of insight, and is quite difficult to follow and digest. I think people exactly what went on at the MDG summit more than they need to sort of know what is going on *this very second*.
Hi there Alanna, love your blog, but first time commenting.
I am not sure if there is an event on this, but there should be… What do the numbers REALLY mean? What are the limitations of them? What do we really know?
I wrote a little ditty about this on my blog recently: http://www.trayle.org/2010/09/indicators.html
and this recent article also highlights something interesting:
