TAJIKISTAN: Last week, Tajik national airline Tojikiston temporarily
canceled flights to China to prevent the introduction of severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS) into the country. Transportation Ministry
officials expect to resume flights later in May.
UZBEKISTAN: Last week, Uzbek Airlines canceled its flights to China,
Malaysia, and Thailand in order to prevent the introduction of severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS) to Uzbekistan. Uzbek Health Ministry officials
have also begun organizing seminars on SARS for airport personnel and
regional health workers. There have been no reported cases of SARS in
Uzbekistan.
